Well, this Summer sure is off to a great start!  I went out to grab dinner at Mino’s while my wife and kids were at a friend’s house and then drove across the causeway with an eye to the sky.  Clouds had been forming and breaking since I got home and there looked to be a clearing near the horizon that slowly great larger as the sun set.

I started off at Corinthian Lane, then at Peabody Lane before deciding to shoot from Harvard Street tonight.  I set up the camera on a tripod and then ran to the car where I launched the Phantom 4 Pro and shared my view live on Facebook.  That was a lot of fun but keeping one eye on the drone, another on the iPad and making sure I could capture shots with the real camera became quite taxing.

As the sun set and color began to explode in the clouds, I put the Phantom on hover overhead, put down the remote and went to work.  As I did, the colors shifted and I watched and shot as the sunset created liquid gold in Marblehead Harbor.  As luck would have it, a sailboat came in and slowly made its way to a mooring while I shot frame after frame.  This is an early favorite from tonight but I have more to work on and share in the days ahead.

It’s going to be a great Summer in Marblehead!
