As small as Marblehead is, it still amazes me when I notice small scenes that seem like they belong somewhere else rather than in this New England town.
This black and white image of the canopy of snow covered trees was captured on the same day as yesterday’s shot of Old Town House. I had driven up towards Beacon Street after exploring downtown Marblehead and parked my car facing this section where the road curves and climbs a small hill under a canopy of trees. The scene would be as likely in Vermont or Colorado as steps away from Grace Oliver Beach in Marblehead.
If you see my wife around town today, wish her a happy anniversary. Fourteen years today (with nearly ten spent in Marblehead).
Happy Anniversary
Beautiful. When I first moved to Marblehead three years ago and came upon this area, I thought immediately it felt so New Hampshire, where I also spend time. So eclectic this charming little town.
Another beauty ?Happy Anniversary. ?
I grew up on Orne St and romped thru the area often…I have lovely memories of Marbehead

Walked that road many times over the years with my Nana. All times of the year.
I love Beacon Street. Thanks for this one.
Happy Anniversary to you and you and your wife…
Beautiful ??
Yup, the small stream running out of the swamp crosses right there on its way to Gracie’s…?
Great photo. Thank you. ???
Happy Anniversary ! And this pic is beautiful.
Happy Anniversary to you and your wife!
Happy Anniversary to both of you!! The minute I saw “The Road Curves”, I knew there was only one place it could be – heading from Grace Oliver’s toward Peaches Point.. It was one of my Dad’s and my favorite walks. It’s nice to know that some scenes are still the same 70 years after the fact.
I think I have a similar image in my stack of negatives from the great snow of 1978, but yours is here for me to recall the day I was out photographing. I was living on Pitman Road at the time and this scene was nearby, just past the Community Store, down the hill. I was on cross country skis since the roads were two feet deep in snow. It was a long slog back up, but I could do that 41 years ago. The Community Store kept us in groceries during that storm. God bless ’em.
