As disappointed as I was in yesterday’s photo excursion, today more than made up for it.  I had decided on a whim to drive up to New Hampshire on Saturday to explore foliage and followed some online suggestions on peak foliage. Between the flat light and less than ideal compositions, I ended up disappointed with the excursion.

Today started off much better with great weather in town. I headed out early to scout out locations for tonight’s Hunters moonrise and had decided on either Crocker Park or Ferry Lane as offering the vantage point I was looking for. I had decided to wait at home until the moonrise at 6:27pm but then noticed the clouds moving in and headed out for some shot from near the Eastern at 4. I was really happy with those shots and then waited until dark for the moon to rise.

I ended up at Ferry Lane and was sure the Hunters moon had been swallowed by cloud cover when it failed to appear 3 minutes after the official rise time. Then I spotted some brightening in the area between Marblehead Light and the Corinthian Yacht Club.  A few minutes later, I had my shot and was finished hunting the moon in Marblehead.

A quick stop at Mino’s on the way home helped finish off a really nice day.
