Last night was my first outing in weeks and this is the first ‘new’ photo I’ve been able to share since the shot of a sailboat at Redd’s several weeks ago (the others have all been pulled from my to-be-published folder).

I couldn’t decide if tonight’s sky might break at the last minute and give way to a nice sunset so I took a chance and threw my bag in the car. I quickly noticed the western sky held more promise than the view east and crossed the causeway.  I kept watch on the clouds as I drove up the Neck and decided to stop along Foster Street from where I found a great vantage point in front of the Pleon.

As the sun set, it appeared as a diffused ball of light in a break between clouds and I composed this image to capture Abbot Hall on the left with St Michael’s steeple and that of the Grace Community Church on the right and some familiar trees at Crocker Park front and center. With boats filling most moorings on this early June evening, I lucked out with the extra splash of color on the calm waters of Marblehead harbor.

As has been the case with my ‘to be published’ archive, I tend to come away with more than one ‘keeper’ on such outings and will share another favorite from this sunset tomorrow – I’m curious which you prefer….
