As we pass six months of social distancing and mask wearing, I found myself drawn to my admittedly few environmental portraits that had yet to be shared. This shot of Glover’s Regiment crossing Marblehead harbor as a tribute to simpler days was an instant selection.
The shot was captured on December 1, 2018 and features the whole of the Regiment well within our now 6 foot distance. At the time I thought nothing of this shot and put it in the ‘to be published’ archive having favored some others from the outing. Now it carries so much more weight and longing for those simpler days.
To be clear, I am 100% in support of mask wearing and social distancing. In fact, I was very impressed on our day trip to Boston and Newbury Street over Labor Day weekend when I found more than 95% of pedestrians wearing masks on the street.
Looks almost like a painting. If the empty moorings were not there, you would think you were back in the 1700.s
Priscilla Kuffel I thought the same thing. That particular light house would not be there then either.
you’re both right on track
Pam Lemieux No. I do like the combo of the boat color and the lighthouse though even from different centuries!
Great shot.
Great photo
Love it. General Glover was quite a man.
Fantastic picture! If it was photoshopped and the lighthouse and moorings were removed, I would believe I’d been transported back in time!
I love this! smiles and tears remembering
My 81 years young dad (at the time) is in that boat rowing. ??
Cool picture. And I agree with your comments.
Beautiful
Many thanks for the great shot of us Glover’s men commemorating the crossing of the Delaware. Beautifully done. Sad that we missed our encampment and will not be able to commemorate the Row properly this year.
