On Tuesday, a storm approached Marblehead to the south and I thought I would try to capture some dramatic clouds and light.  I drove across the causeway to Marblehead Neck and scouted a number of vantage points and captured a few images at each.  In the end, a walk to the end of Peabody Lane and the public right of way there led me to this spot where all the elements came into place under some very nice light.  All except one…

Abbot Hall tower is currently cloaked in red with scaffolding along its full height as much-needed repairs are made.  I love everything about this image – the dramatic light, pier and boats, the slight curl of an incoming wave and the reflected light off the water in Marblehead Harbor.  The only sore point is the red cloaked tower.  I tried to clone out the scaffolding and tone down the red but that didn’t work as well as I had hoped.  I then tried to clone in another image of the tower from a photo taken months ago but that didn’t look quite right either.  In the end, I decided to leave the tower as-is and wonder what you think of it.
