With the near-90 degree temperatures that descended on Marblehead yesterday and the early forecast for possible thunderstorms, I had a feeling the sky might offer some nice colors at sunset. With that in mind, I made sure to throw the camera bag and tripod in the car when we headed out for an early dinner with friends. After the check came and was paid, I took off toward Crocker park while my wife, kids, and friends headed to Seaside for the evening’s Movie in the Park.
I was actually hoping for some nice clouds over Marblehead Harbor to reflect the colors of sunset and was getting disappointed to the point that I texted my wife ‘Mad. Good light is behind me. Too late to switch spots.’ But then I realized, THE GOOD LIGHT IS BEHIND ME! I ran up the hill from where I stood near the float and saw the sky beginning to erupt in colors directly over Abbot Hall. I ran on to a familiar spot and lined up a vertical shot that I had previously taken in the Fall and Winter. This image was captured as the sky exploded last night at Crocker Park.
