The first Christmas full moon in nearly 40 years rose tonight over Marblehead and I had envisioned an image of the small dinghy in Little Harbor with its Christmas Tree as a perfect foreground for the shot.  As the fog and cloudy skies of this morning finally broke at 2pm, I started to wonder if I might actually be able to capture a shot of the Christmas full moon.

I headed to Beacon Street and the Marblehead Lobster Company where I set up my camera and waited.  As I watched the darkening sky for any hint of the Christmas full moon, I chatted with folks coming by to see the Christmas tree in the dinghy and/or pick up Christmas dinner from Marblehead Lobster Company.

Finally, 45 minutes after it rose, I spotted a break in the clouds and moon began to shine through.  I composed this vertical image to capture the Christmas full moon with its light reflecting off the water of Little Harbor and surrounding the small boat with its perfectly lit tree.

Merry Christmas everyone!
