The unseasonably warm weather this weekend made Spring feel as though it was just around the corner.  As the warm air began to give way to slightly cooler weather this week, I spotted the chance for a good sunset and decided to head out to capture the scene from Fort Sewall.  Before I left, I noted that the nearly full moon was due to rise at 4:30pm (an hour before sunset) and thought I would aim for a shot of it as well since I wouldn’t get the chance tomorrow night.

I arrived at Fort Beach and found thick clouds near the horizon which quickly made me switch lenses to my widest one and head off in search of new compositions for sunset.  I ended up shooting under some incredible light and walked back to the car at 5:30pm.  As I looked behind me, I spotted the moon finally reaching an empty patch of sky and switched lenses again before running down to Fort Beach.  I was hoping to shoot the nearly full moon against the branches of the great tree at Fort Sewall.  When I reached this spot, I realized the moon could be seen reflecting in the low tide water at the beach.  I switched to a vertical composition to include the tree, boat and this moonlit reflection at Fort Beach.
