What better way to start a new year of Wednesdays in Marblehead then with this cloud filled sunset over a harbor filled with boats. Today’s image was actually taken on a Tuesday evening (June 27th) as clouds filled the sky but left just enough space at the horizon for the setting sunlight to shine through and create a beautiful pink glow behind Abbot Hall. You can also make out Grace Community Church and St. Michael’s Steeple towering over the familiar skyline.
The benefit of these late sunsets is that I have plenty of time to come home after work, eat dinner with my family and still make it out in time to capture a sunset. This zoomed in view helped to flatten the image and highlighted just how many boats are squeezed into the protected waters of Marblehead Harbor each Summer. You can just make out a subtle reflection of color in the span of still water near the foreground
