There seem to be two types of people that are fortunate to regularly witness the beauty of a Marblehead dawn and sunrise – photographers and fishermen.  There have been numerous times when I have been out shooting and spotted a fisherman boarding his boat ready to set course for an early catch.

This image comes from Saturday, August 3rd when I woke at 4:45am for no good reason and decided to take advantage of the situation rather than trying to get back to sleep.  I managed a few shots near the water before this boat started up with its crew ready to go fish in Marblehead.  As it did, I changed my composition quickly and fired off this shot just as the boat started to cross over Marblehead lighthouse in the distance.  I love the broken reflected colors seen in the boat’s wake and the silhouettes of the fisherman which transport the viewer onto the boat with them and help one imagine heading out on these waters under the incredible colors of dawn.
