I mentioned earlier today that I managed to capture the dawn and sunset on Tuesday, October 15th and thought it would be fitting to share both in a single day.

As 5:30 rolled around, I stepped out, looked up at the sky and saw an incredible texture of clouds alternative with blue skies.  This was a far cry from the dense cloud cover we had for much of the day.  I decided to head out to Lafayette street where I had captured the dawn less than 12 hours earlier (the days really are getting shorter…) and set up for the sunset.

I started off shooting the same scene as this morning but quickly moved across the street as the clouds showed signs of taking on the pink colors of sunset.  I found an unobstructed view from which I could capture the great clouds above and their reflection in the still waters of the Forest River where it meets Salem Harbor.  The show ended up brief and never really erupted as I hoped but I still came away with this image that I really liked.
