What a weekend! I shot the Freshman Football game Thursday night since my daughter was cheering. Then I drove out to North Andover for the Varsity football game. Today JV was at home and I shot my son (a junior) playing football while my daughter (freshman) cheered. I'm exhausted but thrilled! Incredible night of football at Piper Field for so many reason. Marblehead came back from a halftime deficit and several injuries with a mix of incredible defense, special teams and offensive plays. 2023 Marblehead Calendar Available Now
The full Harvest moon was slated to rise during the first Marblehead High School football game and I wasn't sure how I would be able to capture it. As luck would have it, the moon appeared during halftime and I quickly found this spot near the end zone lining up the full moon between the goal posts. Currently working on shots from the game. As I do at the end of each, I have looked back at every one of the 100 images I captured in Marblehead in 2021 and selected my top 10. 2021 served as a 'comeback' year from the low of 77 images taken in 2020 to closer to the 150-200 taken each of the past 10 years now. This was also the year where I took up sports photography when my son joined the Marblehead High School JV football team. This game had it all! Two undefeated teams both heading to the Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium next week. Big plays and a back-and-forth that seemed destined to end in a tie until Eli Feingold, a senior, drilled a 37 yard field goal with no time left on the clock. Great game! All images below.
