I’m not sure what it is about the summer solstice but, for whatever reason, I woke up at 4am – exactly as I did last year at this time (click for last year’s photo). I decided to revisit Hammond Park at dawn and got there to witness some soft pink light fading as the sun got ready to rise. There were clouds at the horizon so I had little hope for a solid image until I saw the first signs of a red sun rising. I composed the image and kept chasing the rising sun. The images were fine but were missing something – that is until a very nice seagull darted through my field looking for breakfast. I took 4 quick shots and this was my favorite.
