It’s Tuesday and that can only mean another Long Exposure image to share with you today (well, that and a pretty important election…). Today’s image comes from the day before Superstorm Sandy arrived. I had scouted out this small discharge pipe a while ago but realized I needed an astronomical high tide to realize the image I had visualized. For good or bad, Sandy delivered on that wish.
As the tide peaked on October 28th, I made my way out to this area and found the water covering the length of the concrete covered pipe. More incredible than the water level were the not so subtle S curves leading out toward Brown’s Island. I knew these would be magnified by the long exposure and set to work on a composition to accentuate them. I ended up only getting two shots at this image (the rain started moments after this one finished) and was thrilled with the end result. Two hundred and forty seconds sandwiched into one image…
