On Wednesday, March 2nd, a brief but strong rainstorm swept through Marblehead.  As it left, the sky began to clear and I noted some interesting low clouds skirting above the horizon.  Though I had been fighting a cold for a few days, I decided I had to get out of the house and see if I could find any nice compositions with the rapidly changing light.

As tends to be the case, I couldn’t stop at just one spot and so, between 11am and 12:15pm, I shot at Fountain Park, various spots along Little Harbor and Doliber Cove, before finishing up at Castle Rock.  I had last shot at Castle Rock in September so it felt good to walk around the large granite projection and down to the beach.  I ended up shooting from both sides but couldn’t pass up the change to capture the crashing surf at Castle Rock once the light broke through the clouds.

This frame came at the moment a wave crashed onto one of the rocks and produced a brilliant spray of white into the air.
