After 9 inches of snow fell on Marblehead this past weekend, I couldn’t wait for dawn and a chance to capture the views of historic downtown Marblehead from the air.  I woke early and drove down to Washington Street from where I launched the Phantom 4 Pro and took in the views of our town on a snowy morning.

It’s one thing to compose an image in 2 dimensions but quite another to add height to the equation.  I’m still learning a lot when it comes to creating dramatic compositions with aerial photography but this image with Old Town House in the foreground and the black asphalt of Washington Street breaking up the white snow was a quick favorite from the morning.

I love how close everything appears from the air with one easily able to spot Marblehead Light across the main harbor and Gerry Island seemingly at the end of Washington Street.
