On Sunday, I watched the sky fill with clouds in the morning but then show signs of breaking up in the afternoon. I had to pick up my son on the Neck and so I threw the drone in the car and stopped at Seaside Park after picking him up and forcing him to join me.
I was surprised to find another drone at the park – this one was a racing model flown by a boy with first person view goggles on. I was a bit jealous as I set my much larger drone down and flew it in a far less exciting manner over the tree line and to this vantage point overlooking Marblehead Harbor.
I was excited to see some fall colors in the trees below and composed the image to highlight those sections. I had to wait for the sun to shine between patches of clouds and lucked out when it did so over the trees at Seaside Park as well as the Neck in the distance.
It has been a lackluster foliage year with the Indian summer and drought conditions so this may be the peak of fall in Marblehead this year.
