Please read/share – updates on future postings

Since starting Wednesdays in Marblehead in August 2008, I’ve shared over 1,500 images of this incredible town.  For the past few months, I’ve felt my creativity dwindling and have begun to feel the need to keep up with daily postings as more chore than enjoyment.  I know I still have much to explore but feel that to do so, I need to stop the daily morning postings (at least for now).  For the foreseeable future, I plan to share a favorite image (or more) soon after an outing but the timing of those posts will be much more haphazard than the weekday 6:40am postings I had been keeping up for the past few years.  The best way to stay up to date and not miss an image will remain the weekly email digest which you can sign up for on my homepage.

Today’s image comes from yesterday morning and a trip up to the steeple at St. Michael’s Church.  This was my third trip to this incredible perch above Marblehead offering views across the harbor and of the houses in downtown Marblehead.  Steve Clay has been my guide on each of the three trips and, when the conditions seemed favorable for a sunrise over Marblehead Neck, we made plans to meet up at the Church.  As always, I was awed by the view this morning.  We made it up during the dawn hours and were treated to wispy pink clouds.  I shot a panorama, wide and telephoto views and a familiar scene looking down at Hooper Street.  Right on cue at 6:45am, the sun began its ascent and the slight haze near the horizon served to dampen the brightness of the sun and made this image possible.

For such a late time of year, it was great to see so many boats still filling the harbor.  If you look closely, you can spot the sunlight reflecting off Marblehead Light and lending it a ray of brilliant red accent lighting.  Until next time…
