One Sunday in August, our former neighbors (and now friends) invited us out for an early afternoon sail. We made our way out of the harbor and I was pleased to see plenty of other boats doing the same. As the kids took turns piloting the boat and the adults took care to make sure we followed a steady course, I happily shot from the side. Though I haven’t had many opportunities to shoot from the water, I have a few favorite images from those rare chances. There’s just something about being on the water and composing images from that vantage point that offers a unique perspective. In this image, I sought to catch the two sailboats as they passed the lighthouse. The wind helped by ensuring both had sails up and the flag in back was in full display.
