While this image was not taken during the same outing as the four others shared this week, it was also taken on that same Wednesday in Marblehead.  I had returned home and started working on the images you’ve seen already when the sky started to turn again and I began to wonder if we might be treated to a great sunset.  I had trouble deciding where to go but found myself at Preston beach just as the sun dipped below the clouds.  When it did, it lit up Rams and Tinker’s Islands in a great reddish glow.

The tricky part here is that the tide was low and gave very little ocean to work with in the foreground.  I shot this from near the top of the rocks where you just turn on to the beach from the road to try to maximize the amount of ocean visible.  As I composed and took this image, there was a hint of orange-red in the sky between the islands and I tried to highlight that in the final image.

It’s been great being able to share five distinct images all taken in the span of a few hours on a recent Wednesday.  I’m going to need to post more often if I keep coming away with this many ‘keepers’ on each outing ; )
