So I had to look up the name for January’s full moon and was surprised to see it called the Wolf Moon. On Sunday night, the moon was just about full and I headed to the private beach at the end of Corn Point Road to await its arrival. Clouds arrived instead and I had to settle for the long exposure image posted yesterday.
I returned Monday night after racing straight from work and got to the beach just as the light of sunset faded. I quickly scampered onto the beach and setup where I expected the moon to rise. This time I had only light clouds overhead and was able to capture this image of the moon rising over a nearby pier. The light was essentially gone at this point so I had to decide if I wanted to expose for the foreground or the moon. I chose the former and allowed the moon to be overexposed and thus look a lot like the sun.
