A new location on this Long Exposure Tuesday – the beach at the end of Corn Point Road.  I had found this group of old pylons last Winter but, at the time, the tide was too low for the image that I hoped to capture.  When I revisited the location at high tide a few months later, I was disappointed to see that, yet again, the water failed to reach the level of the close pylons.  So it was with fingers crossed that I drove out again during an astronomical high tide to see if luck might favor the persistent…

I was thrilled to find that the water consistently came up beyond the first pylon and set about finding a suitable composition.  It was tough to get these old pieces of wood lined up and keep other distracting elements out of the frame such as the nearby rock to the right or the beach and distant shore to the left and above.  This was my favorite image of the set.  I started off trying it in black and white but the colors of the wood – bleached at the top, green and mossy in the middle and deep brown at the bottom – were just too good to remove into shades of grey.  Hope you agree.  I’ll be posting a more experimental version on Friday.  Stay tuned.
