On Wednesday morning, I woke up early and hoped to capture some sea smoke.  Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite cold enough and I had to settle for a pretty awesome sunrise.  On Thursday, I figured there was no hope of shooting anything.  I had to drop off my son at school at 7:55 and head to work in Danvers afterwards.  When my wife texted me from the JCC to tell me there was sea smoke on the water, however, plans changed.  I still dropped off my son but then ran to the car and drove out to Bass Rock Lane.  I walked to the edge of the lane and saw Ram Island surrounded by great wispy smoke coming off the warm Atlantic ocean water.  I managed to take a few images before feeling as though I would lose a limb to frostbite and ran back to the car.

It wasn’t until the kids were in bed that I had a chance to even look at the images I captured.  This one seemed okay at first and I quickly processed it and posted it to my Facebook page.  Within a half hour of posting this image, I had received over thirty likes and some really nice comments on the shot.  I decided to scrap the planned post for today and go with this image instead.

I have to admit to being a terrible judge of my own work sometimes.  I actually considered not posting this one (and didn’t think it would see the light of day on my site).  If not for the great reception on Facebook, I never would have realized how much others might like it.
