It had been three months since I last woke up before the sunrise and went out to capture images at dawn in Marblehead. On Sunday morning, I had decided to make up for last time and headed out of the house at 5:00am.
I had checked the predicted location for sunrise and decided to drive to Crocker Park to capture the morning’s first light on Marblehead Harbor. I arrived as the last stars in the sky were starting to fade and lighter shades of blue colored the morning sky. I captured scenes of the brightening light on Marblehead Harbor for the next 45 minutes (not forgetting the explore other vantage points in the park – come back tomorrow and Wednesday for those).
Finally, at 6:00am, the sky brightened foretelling the sunrise. I quickly switched to my longest lens and zoomed in to capture that first sliver of light rising between Children’s Island and Chandler Hovey Park and bathing that first light on Marblehead Harbor and the boats filling the Summer waters.
It felt good to have this view to start my day. Hope it gets yours to an equally nice start.
