Watching the moon rise always involves a delicate balance of perfect timing – clear skies, agreeable work schedule, an understanding wife and kids and lack of other commitments.  With that being said, I last had a chance to capture the full moon rising over Marblehead in January.  On Friday night, April’s pink moon was due to rise but nearly everything kept me from being able to capture it.  I therefore present you the Sturgeon moon rising over Marblehead Light from a shoot in August 2012.

I started off shooting the full moon from Fort Sewall and shared that image shortly after capturing it.  With the composition in hand, I headed back down the hill and looked over my shoulder as I crossed Fort Beach to find this view.  I quickly stopped to set up for another composition that would take in the wider scene before me rather than focusing solely on the beauty of a full moon.
