I had just remarked to my wife about the relative paucity of lightning and thunderstorms in Marblehead when a monster of a storm swept through town. I tried to capture shots of lightning at Chandler Hovey park within the safety of the lighthouse initially. After that failed, I drove by Devereux and witnessed explosions of light to the south. For the next hour, I tried to capture the power and beauty of this storm as the number of spectators rapidly grew. At times, the show rivaled our fireworks display in the number of bursts. In the shot above, mother nature rewarded my persistence with a perfectly placed bolt that seems to hit the Atlantic Ocean.
