I shared a photo of the blue moon on Friday that was taken on August 30th.  Turns out the moon turned full the next morning so I had one more shot at getting a photo of the rising moon the next evening.  I started off at the beach near Goldthwait and got some nice shots as it first rose.  I was with the family and so, after getting my shot, we walked down to Lime Rickey’s for a celebratory ‘end of Summer’ ice cream.  As we did, I saw the chance to capture the moon behind the lamp post and quickly excused myself…and ran for the causeway.  The light was just right to get the moon and lights exposed correctly.

I may have to share a few more shots of the ‘blue moon’ in the weeks to come.  Turns out this will be the last blue moon until 2015 so might as well make the most of its appearance.  And, as is clear from the shot above, the blue moon is not really blue at all.  The name is assigned to the second full moon in a given month.
