Mmmmm....Lime Rickey's. Nothing says Summer better than a chocolate chip frappe from Lime Rickey's when it opens its shop on Devereux Beach. I have yet to taste a better frappe on the North Shore and you really can't beat the location. Can't wait til Summer 2012!
Another Friday and another local business to feature on the site. This time it's the upscale women's clothier French + Italian. I took this photo on an early morning during the Winter parking ban in order to make sure that no cars would hide the beautiful facade of this store and building. It's hard to believe that the Bus Stop has been open and clothing the citizens of Marblehead since 1975. I had just finished running an errand in town and noted that the flowers encircling the entrance had reached full bloom. Ironically, I had to wait 15 minutes for the bus to come and pick up two people waiting out front. It just so happened that the sun decided to peak through the clouds just as the bus pulled away revealing the store and its waving flag.
Fridays feature local businesses and today's entry is Hand in Hand massage. Blane and Monique have been in practice as massage therapists for over 20 years. Three years ago, they moved to this historic location on beautiful State Street. I was fortunate to have a postcard-perfect sunrise when I took this image. Both therapists are incredibly good at what they do which I was reminded of just this past weekend when I received a chair massage at the Rotary Great Race. It's seven o'clock at night on an early September day. We just got through three straight days of rain and the sun shone for a wonderful few hours. Had a great home cooked meal and decided we needed one last ice cream run. While my wife bathed the kids, I drove out to Coffey Ice Cream and was thrilled to see they were still open. On Fridays, I try to focus on a local business and the Tedesco Country Club may be the newest oldest one that I have photographed to date. Incorporated over one hundred years ago, the main house recently completed construction. I drove out here this past Wednesday wondering if the interplay of clouds would make for an interesting sunset. Another Friday means another local business is featured on the site. Today we see Atomic Cafe that can be found in a great brick and glass setting on School street next door to the Little Theater. I stopped here one day while walking around Five Corners and noticed that the normally crowded streets were nearly empty of cars. Fridays are for local businesses and today features Comina at 39 Atlantic Avenue. I was walking down Atlantic Avenue in mid-June on an especially beautiful day and looked for businesses featuring interesting architecture. I first noticed some glass finiales in the window at Comina and it was only after crossing the street that I noted the great architecture of the building. After shooting the exterior, I promises the owner that I would post this to the site in the next few weeks. Two months later and I finally am clearing the backlog of photos of this picturesque town.
It's Friday which means another photo of a local business. This time, The Little Store is featured. This small sub shop has been open for over 20 years. It's open 7 days per week and is an iconic storefront that can be found on Green Street.
Continuing with the Friday focus on local businesses, here is The Hurricane. I had tried to shoot the Hurricane once before but it didn't come out quite right. When I walked by on a warm Summer day and saw the doors and windows open, I knew I had my opportunity to get the image I had wanted. Those open doors seem to beckon you to come inside, have a seat, grab a beer and enjoy a Red Sox game... The Hurricane is located at 259 Washington Street at Five Corners
