This photo was taken the same day that I captured the cliff jumpers at Crocker park. As I mentioned there, it was a hot July 4th weekend in Marblehead and I found myself with some time at sunset. I wasn’t sure what to expect as the clouds had started to come in but made my way to Chandler Hovey park. I had always shot the lighthouse from afar in hopes of capturing it in its entirety. On this occasion, I was drawn to the red door at its base. I love the texture of the paint of the door and set about composing a shot. Just then, the sun poked out from behind the clouds and provided me with a perfect sunstar to complement the star engraved above the door. Now, if only I could talk my way through that door…
