Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of this website. What started as a desire to learn more about my new hometown by shooting photos every Wednesday, has turned into an incredible experience. In this past year, I have published 94 posts of images of this town. Over 200 people have ‘liked’ the Wednesdays in Marblehead Facebook page. Fifty people signed up to receive regular email updates. The home page has been viewed over 1200 times (at least since I installed the plugin to keep count). Meanwhile, I have become a member of the Marblehead Arts Association. I’ve had images accepted to the Marblehead Festival of the Arts for the last two years. I have shown my images in local stores and have a Meet the Artist exhibit in September at the Hooper Mansion. This has been an incredibly gratifying experience and I’m thrilled to be able to share these photos with you.
As I reflect on the past year, this seemed a perfect image to start off the second year. The lighthouse has been a fixture in a number of images on this site (see them all by clicking here). After some recent rains, I ventured out to see if I could catch a rainbow (I did…watch for that next week!). For the first time, I noticed a small pool of water collect below the lighthouse. I shot an image similar to this but with dark grey clouds. The next evening at sunset I returned for the image I really wanted that you see above. The sun was setting behind that wind-swept tree and the clouds were perfectly placed in the sky and the reflection below. I hope you enjoyed this image and those that preceded it. There will be plenty more to come…
