We had some incredible sunsets to mark the beginning of November.  Friday’s was breathtaking but I had to resign myself to enjoy it from my car as I made it home too late to get the camera and still capture those amazing colors.  Saturday was a good show in its own right but we had plans that trumped any hope of getting out to shoot…again.

On Sunday night, I decided to go out no matter what.  With the end of Daylight Savings Time, that meant leaving the house at 4:15pm and hoping that the plentiful clouds that had filled the skies might still be found somewhere near the horizon.  I drove down towards Devereux Beach thinking that would give me the best sense of where the clouds and light might peak.  Once I arrived, I was thrilled to see the clouds at the horizon and made a mad dash with my tripod and camera as the light was fading fast.

I had time for a few compositions and started with a tighter view from the Marblehead harbor side of the causeway.  As I walked down to the Marblehead Neck section, I crossed back to the Atlantic Ocean side and decided to include the causeway in the next composition.  I had to time this shot so that cars and people wouldn’t obstruct the views and ended up with a quite nice scene to mark a late Fall sunset over the causeway.
