Handprints on the Chimney

I'm going to make this one interesting and see if my viewers can come up with the location.  The answer will come with tomorrow's post.  For those who know where this is, can you answer these questions that I still have: Who's handprints are those and why are they there? What does the NEWS sign mean? Update: The answer was the back of the stands at Seaside park.  I still don't know the answers to the questions above though...

What’s in the bag

I received a comment today asking what I typically shoot with and thought it best to address it with an inventory of what's 'in the bag'. My primary camera is the Canon 50D. I purchased it almost 3 years ago and have taken nearly 70,000 photos with it. Most are of my kids but many now show up here as well. I have three lenses that I use: For ultra wide-angle shots, the Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens is hard to beat. It offers a great, wide field of view that can capture all of Castle Rock from the top of [...]

Santa and the Transfer Station

It's almost Spring and the snow has melted - that meant a run to the transfer station to deposit branches.  Afterwards, I noticed the surreal image of a plastic Santa above the oil drop-off station.  With the dark clouds, it seemed a perfect scene to capture.  It appears the transfer station will likely show up as another item on the upcoming town override vote so the timing of this shot (following the Glover series) worked out well. Pull Handle

Another from Memorial park.  While yesterday's image was a grand view of the centerpiece of the park, today's concentrates on the details.  I saw this fire alarm as I left the park and was instantly intrigued by the texture of the paint and handle.  As I continue to explore the town, I'm going to make an effort to notice the details as well.  Hope you enjoy these closer looks at Marblehead. Technical: Canon 50D and EF-S 10-22 lens.  6 bracket exposure.

Engine 2

The goal for this particular morning was to catch some of Earle's high surf.  Headed out at high tide but found the waves to be quite calm.  On the way home, I noticed that the light on our smaller engine house was just about perfect.  Knocked on the door and the firefighters were great about opening up the door and showing off their truck. Technical: Canon 50D with EF-S 17-55mm.  5 bracket HDR.
