For the first night in what seems like forever, the conditions seemed right for a solid sunset.  There were nice clouds in the sky, it wasn’t bitterly cold out and I was free to shoot (not stuck at work watching as the sky exploded in different colors).  I made my way down Ocean Avenue and stopped at Devereux beach.  The light looked good but I decided to quickly scout out the view from the Neck.  Turned out Devereux had the best vantage point and I got to shooting.

I started off at 3:50pm near the water’s edge.  I shot the setting sun as the light played across the waves coming to shore.  It was great to be out again alone on the beach capturing the beauty of a Marblehead sunset.  As the light started to fade, I made my way to the causeway and shot across the harbor as soft purples and pinks colored the sky over the lighthouse.  Then I looked back over my shoulder to see if the sunset had developed anything more interesting and saw the explosion of color.

I shot frame after frame trying to capture the height of the sunset and praying that the lamp post lights would turn on in time.  They did and this was my favorite image from the set on the causeway.  Lots more to go through (444 images to be exact and 2 videos) so I’m sure you’ll be seeing the fruits of this outing for some time to come.  Couldn’t wait to post this one for anyone out there who missed tonight’s sunset…
