The Full Corn Moon

The full corn moon rose over Chandler Hovey Park tonight and I was one of a half dozen photographers among many more onlookers admiring the view of the moon rising over a collection of boats in the mouth of the harbor. Larger Than Life

I went out twice this past week to capture the moonrise and ended up getting skunked by cloud cover both times. I waited over an hour on Friday night but the moon refused to show and I headed home empty handed. Luckily, I still have 40 images of moonrises and moonsets in Marblehead that have not been published yet and pulled this one of a larger than life moon from a forgotten shoot in February 2020. Snow Moon in a Winter without Snow

I lucked out with tonight's outing to capture the snow moon rising when I contacted my book designer and was invited over to shoot from her husband's third floor office window. Not only did I have a perfect vantage point, but I was able to escape the brutally cold wind that would have left me cold but also caused the camera and lens to move as well impacting the final image. Hunting the Moon in Marblehead

As disappointed as I was in yesterday's photo excursion, today more than made up for it. I had decided on a whim to drive up to New Hampshire on Saturday to explore foliage and followed some online suggestions on peak foliage. Best Seat in Town

Moonglow

The full moonrise from late December turned out to be one of my favorite outings to capture the moon to date. I'm not sure what it was about that particular moonrise but I managed to take some images that felt unique and new - a tough task to accomplish after ten years of capturing images of Marblehead. Vernal Worm Moon over Childrens Island

The super full vernal worm moon rose tonight over Childrens Island and I wasn't the only one who headed out to Fort Sewall to watch (and capture) the brilliant sight. Top 10 of 2018 – #7 Unbelievable Moonrise

I captured two images on January 1, 2018 that would end up being among my favorites of the year. This one of the first supermoon of the year ascending in the sky over Chandler Hovey Park was made possible with a new lens I had acquired just a short while previously. I was actually standing in my book designer's backyard near Skinner Head (Gregory Street and Catherine Lane) to capture this view of the full moon.
