First Light after the Storm

This morning's image is not from the latest Nor'Easter to drop snow on Marblehead but rather the last (or third) Nor'Easter of the season. First Light on Washington Street

The blizzard conveniently ended on a Wednesday and I set an alarm to capture first light on Washington Street covered in snow. Abbot Hall Caked with Snow

That was quite the mid-March storm with blizzard conditions and over a foot of snow having fallen throughout the day on Tuesday. Having seen the snow stick to everything it touched, I had a few ideas for the morning and woke before sunrise to drive downtown. Fresh Snow on Pond View

Fresh snow in December is a magical thing...snow in March is nature's cruelest joke. With some forecasts of over a foot of snow due to arrive in Marblehead on Tuesday, March 13th, I struggled with an image to share today. This one of the red house named Pond View blanketed in white with the snow perfectly accentuating the branches on the trees was an instant favorite when I captured it just after dawn on December 10th. Dusting of Snow on Browns Island

As snow is due to fall tonight from the latest Nor'Easter, I thought I would share one of the images I captured this winter while I took a hiatus from the site (but kept exploring this beautiful town). Today's image of Brown's Island and sunrise reflected in the still waters of Fisherman's Beach comes from December 10th. Epiphany Bonfire in the Falling Snow

Tonight's epiphany bonfire in the falling snow couldn't have been more magical and I almost gave up on shooting it... Top 10 of 2017 – #4 First Snow of the Season

Another December image and another aerial makes it to the top 5 of the year. We had an absolutely perfect first snow of the season on December 9th and I went out on the 10th in the morning to capture the results. First Light on State Street

On Sunday, I headed out after the first snowfall of the season and made my way from Little Harbor to Grace Oliver Beach and then Redd's Pond before heading to historic downtown Marblehead. Perfect Morning at Redds Pond

As I went to bed on Saturday night, I looked out the window and noted the freshly fallen snow was sticking firmly to the tree branches with very little wind that might ruin the effect by morning. First Snow of the Season

There's something magical about the first snow of the season. After shooting around town as the snow fell yesterday, I woke early to capture the picture perfect snow in the light of morning. Given the relatively warm temperatures, the snow had stuck to all of the tree branches and I knew it would make for a pretty scene.
