The Privateer Lynx comes to town

This week saw the Lynx come to town. The Lynx is a tall ship inspired by one that fought in the war of 1812. She came to Marblehead harbor on a foggy Wednesday afternoon and was greeted by a throng of spectators watching from Fort Sewall as well as wind and rain. She fired off six cannon shots as she made her way to the harbor in response to rifle fire from the Marblehead regiment. The Supermoon Rises over Marblehead’s Lighthouse

So the super moon rose on Saturday night marking the closest the moon has been to the Earth in 18 years. The proximity made for an even larger full moon and the atmosphere colored the moon yellow/orange as it rose from the horizon. I had planned out this location in advance and waited patiently for 7:17pm when the moon began its ascent.
