Dawn in Marblehead

I woke up this morning at 6am for no good reason and checked the weather to see if I might have interesting light or other conditions. There was the possibility of fog so I headed down to Devereux but saw that any fog that might have been had since lifted. Sunday Sunrise to Welcome in 2012

This is the first sunrise (and a Sunday sunrise to boot) of 2012 as seen from the steeple of the Old North Church. To understand how this image came to be, we have to go back a few weeks to the Bus Stop. I had set up in front of the Bus Stop for the annual Christmas Walk through the graciousness of Kathy. The Cove

August 20th began as a gray day and I just about had to force myself to get out and explore town while my wife and kids attended a birthday party. As I drove around and found myself heading to the Neck, I noted that the sky was clearing up nicely. North and South from Castle Rock

These two photos were taken within five minutes of each other from the two sides of Castle Rock. Above is the view to the South with a private beach. Below is the view North with the rockier terrain and homes dotting the coast. This was shot near sunset and high tide one day after the huge snowstorm that blanketed the town. The seas were still rough from the tail end of the storm and made for some great long exposures. Technical: Both taken with Canon 50D and 17-55 EF-S lens. Single exposures of approximately 1 1/2 seconds.
