Marblehead's Annual Fireworks display became an instant favorite and 'must shoot' event when we moved to Marblehead in 2008. Since then, I've shot the fireworks from various angles and locations. I had an idea for capturing this year's show from the air but my night clearance from the FAA took longer than anticipated. Top 10 of 2017 – #9 A New Day Dawns in Marblehead

My 9th favorite photo taken in 2017 is this one of purple light and a perfect green reflection as a new day dawns in Marblehead. This image was captured on October 7th, 2017 at 6:24am during what would end up as a very long boating season in Marblehead. Top 10 of 2017 – #10 – Cloudy with a Chance of Moonrise

As we start the Top 10 of 2017 countdown that will lead us into the New Years Day slideshow, we begin with a crowd favorite and the sole moonrise image of the top 10. Best of Show – Marblehead Festival of Arts

I am thrilled and humbled to announce that one of my entries 'In a Fog on State Street' has been awarded Best of Show at the 2017 Marblehead Festival of Arts. Both this image and 'Light Dawns on Marblehead' will be on display at Old Town House beginning on Friday, June 30th after the awards ceremony at Abbot Hall. The photography display ends on Tuesday, July 4th. Top 10 of 2016 – #2 – Sailing Under the Sunset

This is the second image in the Top 10 of 2016 countdown to have been taken on the night of July 5th and was an easy choice for the #2 spot (it was actually #1 until December 14th when it got bounced for that top slot). As the sun set through the building fog on this night, it created an incredible diffuse orange light. Top 10 of 2016 – #3 – Rainbow Lightning at Preston Beach

In any other year, I have to believe that rainbow lighting (you can make out the lightning bolt crossing in front of the rainbow) on a pink sky at Preston Beach would have taken the #1 spot. As we make our way through the top 5, I chose this image of a brilliant sunset mimicking fire in the sky as #4 on my Top 10 of 2016 countdown. Top 10 of 2016 – #5 – Golden Fog in Marblehead Harbor

Back to the Top 10 of 2016 Countdown and the first warm image to make it to the favorite list of images. I had gone out on July 5th when golden fog rolled into Marblehead Harbor and was rewarded with the most incredible light I had seen in our town. Top 10 of 2016 – #6 – Goodnight Moon

Another very recent image that immediately cemented a place in my top 10 images of 2016 was this one of the supermoon and Abbot Hall captured on November 14th. I had three opportunities to capture the historically large supermoon (beaver moon) with a moonrise over Chandler Hovey Park and a moonset against Abbot Hall. The most challenging one took place on Monday, November 14th with the moonrise.
