Hunters Moon from Crocker Park

In a few days, the full Hunters moon will rise. As I was looking for an image to share from my 'to be posted' archive, I happened upon this view of the Hunters moon rising over the Corinthian Yacht Club from the vantage point of Crocker Park. Moon over Crocker

Last night, a deluge of rain poured down on Marblehead beginning at around 6pm. I was watching the radar as it looked like the rain might clear right at sunset and provide perfect conditions for a rainbow. Sure enough, the rain tapered down just before 7 (sunset is at 7:20pm right now) and I drove off to a spot along the harbor. Corinthian Moonrise

On September 27, 2015, I headed to the end of Ferry Lane (right next to the State Street landing) to capture the moonrise. The full harvest moon rose over Marblehead Neck appearing as a Corinthian moonrise with the yacht club just under the glowing light. I had shared a close up of the moon originally and had left this wider view in my 'To be Published' folder where it waited to see the light of day.

Moonglow

The full moonrise from late December turned out to be one of my favorite outings to capture the moon to date. I'm not sure what it was about that particular moonrise but I managed to take some images that felt unique and new - a tough task to accomplish after ten years of capturing images of Marblehead. Old North Moon

In late March, I had headed out to capture the full worm moon setting and managed to get several images of the moon as it descended near Old North Church. I shared one favorite of the full moon and a wider view of this section of Marblehead but had also managed to capture this image as the moon dropped right next to the church. Moon over Fort Sewall

One more shot of the full moon that rose on the first day of Spring. Old North Church and the Vernal Worm Moon

On Wednesday morning, the super vernal worm moon was due to set under clear conditions and I had planned out a spot at Chandler Hovey Park from which to capture this image. I have many images of the full moon setting besides Abbot Hall but have only managed to capture the moonset beside Old North Church on two other occasions - and one was marred by clouds. Vernal Worm Moon over Childrens Island

The super full vernal worm moon rose tonight over Childrens Island and I wasn't the only one who headed out to Fort Sewall to watch (and capture) the brilliant sight. Lunar Eclipse over Marblehead

A full blood moon lunar eclipse is set to take place tonight just past midnight (peak at 1/21/2019 12:16am EST). I'm hopeful that this front over us will disappear by then but it is also bringing along sub-arctic air as it passes. I looked back at the last time I captured a lunar eclipse over Marblehead - September 27, 2015. Moon and Star

I mentioned yesterday that I had gone out on the morning of December 23rd hoping to catch the full cold moon setting. It took a bit of driving around the Neck on this morning to find the right vantage point but I ended up at the end of Harvard Street for this view. The full moon descended just between Grace Community Church and that star at State Street Landing. With the cloudless sky, I was fortunate to capture the moon fairly low in the sky with nicely defined craters.
