Lighting up Riverside Drive

It seemed only appropriate to begin 2017 with an aerial image as I expect to share many more views from above Marblehead in the year to come. A Very Marblehead Christmas

Top 10 of 2016 – #8 – The Christmas Tree Bonfire

We moved to Marblehead in May 2008 just as the causeway was being re-built and, as such, had never witnessed the annual Christmas Tree bonfire tradition. On January 6, the tradition was resumed and I was awed by the site of the incredible bonfire and, even more, the gathered crowd reflected in the flame light. Marching in the Christmas Walk Parade

This weekend, the annual Marblehead Christmas Walk took place and, as an added bonus, my daughter was marching in the Christmas Walk parade for the first time. I decided to set up along State Street hoping to capture images of Glover's Regiment and then her cheerleading group on this timeless street with the star hanging from a crane near the Landing. Marblehead Christmas Walk

The Marblehead Christmas Walk is this weekend and I thought I would share this image of Glover's Regiment walking down State Street at the conclusion of the 2011 parade to spread the word. If you are new in town or haven't participated in the Marblehead Christmas Walk festivities, make sure you head to historical downtown this weekend. This year marks the 46th version of the annual event sponsored by the business community. Two Lights on Christmas Day

Back to Christmas day and that tree in a dinghy... I've shared two images of the rare Christmas full moon silhouetting this boat and its perfectly placed and lit Christmas tree. However, while I waited for the moon to rise on Christmas day, I couldn't help but wander around the wet rocks looking for other compositions. The Christmas Tree Bonfire – A Tradition Resumes

The Christmas tree bonfire took place tonight on Riverhead Beach in a return of a long-standing tradition. The bonfire was an annual event that took place on Epiphany but was stopped when the new causeway was built. As it happened, the last bonfire took place immediately before we moved to Marblehead and I had never had a chance to witness (or photograph) the tradition. The Christmas Full Moon

Last night, I shared an image of the Christmas full moon rising over Marblehead and illuminating the dinghy in Little Harbor with its perfect Christmas tree. At the time, I had said that this wasn't the shot I had intended and, maybe subconsciously, knew that I would be trying again so I titled that image A Christmas Full Moon. A Christmas Full Moon

The first Christmas full moon in nearly 40 years rose tonight over Marblehead and I had envisioned an image of the small dinghy in Little Harbor with its Christmas Tree as a perfect foreground for the shot. Light Up the Tree at St. Michael’s

Recently, I received an email asking me if I had the chance to photograph the tree in front of St. Michael's Church decorated in holiday lights.
