Pink Sunset from Riverhead Beach

I've shared quite a few images from this photo shoot that took place during an unusually low tide on September 9th including having devoted a week to five of my favorites. I said I wasn't done sharing and, as you can see, there are a few more images in which I was treated to incredible light over both sides of the Marblehead causeway. Marblehead Harbor in the Blue Hour

In early September, I had woken up early enough to capture Marblehead harbor in the blue hour. I drove down State Street to Front Street and parked at the Landing from where I walked around the corner and found this vantage point. The waters were incredibly still and, for some reason, all of the lights were on at the Corinthian Yacht Club at 5:45am when I clicked the shutter. The golden glow of those lights complemented the blues in the sky and water with the bright green light of Marblehead Light reflecting in the still waters.

Still Waters at Sunset in Marblehead

On Tuesday, October 14, I had decided to head out at sunset which seemed to hold the promise of a decent showing. I spent much of my time between two docks along Marblehead Neck. As the sun set and the color began to creep into the sky, I noted this composition of the Corinthian Yacht Club with Marblehead Light poking out behind it. The waters were calm but I made them more so with this 30 second exposure. The addition of a circular polarizer helped bring out the reflections in the still waters at sunset in Marblehead.

Morning Light on Little Harbor

On Sunday, October 5th, I had set out early to capture images of the dawn and then made my way to a few locations in Marblehead showing early (and beautiful) Fall colors. I shared five images from this one hour photo shoot last week but have a few more in the 'to be posted' archive that I really liked. Full Lot at Little Harbor

This photo comes from September 28 and a trip around town hunting for early signs of Fall foliage. I ended up at the landing near the Marblehead Lobster company and found the waters of Little Harbor still filled with boats and subtle colors on Gerry Island. Composed this image to include the full length of Gerry Island, Marblehead Light in the distance and the boat ramp leading into the water.

Dawn over Little Harbor

The last image for the week is also one of the very first I captured on this Sunday morning. I had parked along Beacon Street and saw this simple scene laid out before me of dawn over Little Harbor I have to admit that I didn't have much hope for a brilliant sunrise at the time with the heavy bank of clouds near the horizon but the clouds overhead did wonders for reflecting the morning light (images to be shared in the weeks to come). Low Tide in Marblehead – Riverhead Beach

Continuing from Friday's introduction to this week's theme, here is the wider view of Riverhead beach. You can see the float that I had stood on for the earlier image in the center of the frame and hopefully appreciate just how low the tide had been to allow me to walk along Riverhead beach to the water's edge. From here, I had quickly returned to the causeway where I captured this image and then turned my attention to Devereux Beach... Come back tomorrow for that image.

Waiting for a Ride in Marblehead Harbor

It's interesting to watch the traffic in Marblehead Harbor during the morning blue hour as the sunrise approaches. On this particular Sunday, I had gone out in hopes of interesting skies left over from the intense lightning storm that seemed to signal the end of Summer.
