Thank You!

Thank you everyone for your orders and patience this Black Friday! On Tuesday, we left for Orlando and a stay at Disney with the kids. I was nervous about being away during a really busy time and that orders would be delayed. As it turned out, this was the busiest Black Friday I've ever had and I really appreciate everyone's patience with my slow email responses. I have to work today but my wife will be dropping off calendars at the post office this afternoon.  Tomorrow, I plan on driving around town and hand-delivering calendars and books. Print orders will [...]

Giving Thanks and Free Wallpapers

Each year on Thanksgiving, I like to look back and give thanks for the support of those who see and interact with my images on my website and various social media locations.  I started Wednesdays in Marblehead in August 2010 as a personal project to learn more about my new town.  I still remember those early days when I would post an image to the website and wonder if anyone would ever see it.  After eight years and over 2,000 images shared, I’m humbled that so many have connected with these photos of Marblehead and the beauty to be [...]

Warm Morning on Washington Street

As we approach the annual winter parking ban, I've begun to plan out early morning trips to capture views of historic downtown Marblehead's streets without parked cars in the frame. The absence of cars helps to remove a sense of time from the images as the views of these hundred year old homes could conceivably have been captured decades ago. Today's image comes from mid December 2016 when I had only had the Phantom 4 pro drone for a few months. I had flown about 100 feet over Washington Street and caught the warm glow of the morning sun bathing the [...]

Temple Emanu-El – Meet me at the Sip, Schmooze & Shop Event – Sunday, Nov 18 9a-2p

On Sunday, I dropped off my daughter at Hebrew school at Temple Emanu-El and then quickly turned around to capture the front facade of this building. In all my time in Marblehead, I hadn't thought to capture this building and lucked out on this fall afternoon with a deep blue sky overhead. Next Sunday, I will be participating in the Sip, Schmooze and Shop event with my Wednesdays in Marblehead book, 2019 Calendar and matted prints available for purchase. I hope you'll be able to come to the event and say hi. I will be there from 9am to 2pm [...]

Ware in the World

Once more to Ware Lane and peak foliage along this tiny dirt road in Marblehead. I mentioned in Monday's post that I had happened upon this scene while walking the dog with my wife and returned with camera gear in tow to capture its beauty. I shot with a 200mm lens at first to focus on the tree and pond but then switched to a 16mm lens for a wider vertical view and one of those sun stars. When I shared the first image, I was struck by all the comments of those who grew up in this section of [...]

Turning Leaves at Old Town House

I had gone out on Sunday, October 21st to find early signs of autumn in Marblehead having noticed the maples had already hit peak color. I started off at the high school before heading down Pleasant Street to historic downtown Marblehead. Once there, I made it a point to circle Old Town House and spotted a few turning leaves in the trees on either side of the building. I found this spot from which to capture the yellow facade and gradual progression of fall color from the leaves at the top to the green ones below.

Liquid Gold

With all the recent rain and wind, I had just about given up on capturing any images of foliage in Marblehead. On Sunday morning, I headed out with my wife to walk the dog and our patch took us along Humphrey Street. As we crossed the street at Rose Avenue, I turned my head and spotted this view of Ware Lane with rainwater having formed a small reflecting pool that had turned into liquid gold with the morning sun backlighting the yellow leaves. We finished the walk and I returned with my camera to capture the serene view of fall's [...]

Golden Light on an Emptying Harbor

I mentioned a few days ago that I had gone out to Crocker Park on Friday night hoping for a nice sunset and some foliage. I ended up getting lucky with the former but with most of the good light positioned behind Abbot Hall. Before capturing that image, I pointed my lens toward the golden light on Marblehead Neck and the sad view of an emptying harbor. There was a patch of leaf color in one tree at Crocker Park with two others having already emptied of leaves.
