Riding the Launch at Sunset in Marblehead Harbor

After photographing the cannon firing at sunset from the Corinthian Yacht Club, I headed back to where I had parked on Corinthian Lane and marveled at the remaining colors of sunset as they slowly faded over Marblehead harbor. I setup the camera to capture this scene and the great solitary cloud formation at the edge of the frame when I noted the launch setting out from the Corinthian Yacht Club. I quickly adjusted my settings and captured the added element of people in this landscape scene which ended up being my favorite capture of the set. Hope you agree.

The Sun Sets Over Marblehead Harbor

Last week, I shared a recent favorite image of the sunset as seen from Chandler Hovey Park [LINK]. Marblehead Lighthouse Aglow in the Colors of Sunset

Caught in the Glow of the Setting Sun

Day 3 – A Long Exposure Sunset After the Storm

Sunset After Storm – Light Erupts Over the Harbor

I don't know about you but I sure am glad that the storm is passed. That was a messy, angry, incredibly powerful storm that hunkered down off the coast and sent wave after wave and snowflake after snowflake at us. Long Exposure – Sun Rays over Marblehead Harbor

Today's long exposure image was taken back in April 2012. The Spring is a great time to photograph the harbor as clouds are not an uncommon site and the waters remain free of boats allowing for longer exposures. With a full harbor, the odds of keeping boats sharp with exposures stretching to seconds and minutes become very small. Summer Sunset over Goldthwait Reservation

Abbot Hall Standing Over an Empty Harbor
