My 9th favorite photo taken in 2017 is this one of purple light and a perfect green reflection as a new day dawns in Marblehead. This image was captured on October 7th, 2017 at 6:24am during what would end up as a very long boating season in Marblehead. The warm summer with only one heat wave morphed into a warm and very pleasant fall. Golden Dawn at Preston Beach

A couple of weeks ago, an unbelievable dawn erupted in the sky over Marblehead. I left the house as the purple light hit its peak and made a beeline for Preston Beach hoping to catch some of the magical color in the clouds. By the time I parked and got out of the car, the purple had disappeared but, a minute or two later, a golden color exploded overhead. Pink Sky over Purple Waves at Devereux Beach

Today's image comes from the incredible dawn that took place on October 29 before the storm (literally) blew through town. I had started off with a tight crop of the ocean waves and wet sand reflecting the building colors in the sky. As the dawn reached its peak, it created a pink sky over purple waves washing ashore at Devereux Beach. Dawn before the Storm

With talk of a storm headed our way that may be bringing 40+ MPH winds and 1-3" of rain, I figured the old adage 'red sky in morning, sailer take warning' may predict a nice dawn. Sunrise Glow over Marblehead Neck

A few minutes after yesterday's image of a perfect dawn in Marblehead, the first hint of sunrise glow began to form over Marblehead neck. I made a slight adjustment to the composition and settings and captured the light as it built to its maximum. As it turns out, the sun never actually showed after this moment. The clouds thickened and this light was quickly extinguished with the light of the sun hidden behind the building cloud cover. Marblehead Harbor Dawn

Between yesterday's capture and this one, twenty minutes elapsed. During that time, I had decided to set up Facebook Live on my iPhone so others could enjoy what I hoped would be a beautiful sunrise. As the sun approached the horizon, the sky absolutely exploded in color. I shot frame after frame and kept adjusting the composition until this moment when the light peaked. A New Day Dawns in Marblehead

I hadn't been out to shoot the dawn in a month and so, when I woke at 6am on Saturday morning, I decided to head out the door and see if luck might follow me to Crocker Park. Snowy Morning in Marblehead

After 9 inches of snow fell on Marblehead this past weekend, I couldn't wait for dawn and a chance to capture the views of historic downtown Marblehead from the air. First Harbor at Dawn

On a late October morning, I headed down to First Harbor in the hopes of capturing dawn break and some nice colors. I drove up Orne Street to where it meets Beacon Street and parked in front of the Marblehead Lobster Company (now closed and awaiting a planned reopening).
