Purple Dawn Over an Empty Harbor

Last week, I shared images of turquoise waters all taken on the prior Wednesday in Marblehead. I thought I would start this week in a similar way with this image taken last Wednesday at dawn. Marblehead Light Under the Stars

I mentioned in yesterday's post that I had gone out to Chandler Hovey park on Sunday at sunset hoping to catch the tail end of a large coronal mass ejection with promises of auroras in the night sky. Spring Comes to Hammond Park

A Puffin? In Marblehead?!

On Tuesday, a fan of my site asked if I ever photographed wildlife - especially birds. Long Exposure – From the Top of Fountain Park

On Sunday, January 20th, after attending my son's swim meet at the JCC, I noted the clouds starting to form as we neared sunset. I had a location in mind for a long exposure shot for some time and decided to head there in hopes that the light would work. Worm Moon Rises Over Marblehead Neck

On the same night that I captured Monday's image of the frozen harbor at sunset, I also managed this image of the full Worm moon rising over Marblehead Neck. The original plan was to shoot this moon as it rose over the lighthouse. Yesterday, January 23rd, was slated to be our first near-zero degree day in a while. With the recent moderate weather and ocean temps in the 40's, I figured I had a good shot at capturing some sea smoke. With that in mind, I woke up early on Wednesday and drove to a few spots. The Sun Rises over Marblehead Harbor and the Lighthouse

Long Exposure – The Lighthouse at Sunset

On December 23rd, I headed out to Chandler Hovey Park to photography the lighthouse draped in its holiday best. I had just finished shooting the sunset at Devereux Beach both as fiery and smokey tendrils and had found a nice angle from which to shoot the lighthouse and old oil house.
