Beacon in the Night

On December 23rd, I headed out to capture the full cold moon rising over Chandler Hovey Park. When I arrived at my spot near the Dolphin Yacht Club, I immediately noticed the red, white and blue lights adorning Marblehead Light. Moonlit Reflection (a composite)

Sunrise on Frozen Pond

This will be the last new image I share in 2018 (I think) as I plan to start my Top 10 of 2018 countdown on Monday. Ware in the World

Once more to Ware Lane and peak foliage along this tiny dirt road in Marblehead. I mentioned in Monday's post that I had happened upon this scene while walking the dog with my wife and returned with camera gear in tow to capture its beauty. Liquid Gold

With all the recent rain and wind, I had just about given up on capturing any images of foliage in Marblehead. On Sunday morning, I headed out with my wife to walk the dog and our patch took us along Humphrey Street. Reflections of a Full Harbor

On Monday, I shared an image of pre-sunset light bathing Marblehead Harbor in a soft gold. I had captured the shot from the Dolphin Yacht Club just as our dinner was brought out to the balcony. Upon seeing that light (and with two plates not yet out), I excused myself and headed down to the water for a few more quick shots. Making Waves at Sunrise

I don't make it up early enough to catch most sunrises in the summer but when I do and when conditions turn out this amazing, I try to make the most of it. Today's image comes from the sunrise that wouldn't end on June 30th. I've shared a number of images from that morning including 'Sunrise Like Gold' that I just finalized as the June image for my 2019 Marblehead Calendar (going to press this week). After shooting several frames, a passing boat's wake created subtle waves that helped accentuate the reflections of light in Marblehead Harbor.

Corker of a Sunset over Fort Beach

This corker of a sunset took shape over Fort Beach twenty minutes after yesterday's image and, the kicker is, that it wasn't even the best light to come out of this evening's outing. Splashing Water at Fort Beach

On July 3rd, I chased a promising cloud formation to Fort Beach and started to shoot it from atop Fort Sewall. As the cloud moved and picked up more light from the setting sun, I made my way down Fort Sewall Lane and stopped at this overlook for a bit. I watched as kids headed into the shallow water on a hot summer evening and captured a few frames of them splashing water at each other.
