Through the Looking Glass at Marblehead Light

I skipped last week's From the Rooftops Thursday entry in favor of a dramatic sunset so today we return to the top of Marblehead Light for one of a series of images capture on July 2nd as we climbed to the top of the lighthouse to hang lights for the Fourth of July celebration. Supermoon Rises over Marblehead Light

Since the 'true' supermoon over 2011, it seems that each year we have more and more appearances of the so-called supermoon. The term originally was meant for the full moon which was at its closest proximity to the earth in nearly two decades and thus would appear 17% larger. The supermoons now are labels added to the closest proximity of the moon to the Earth for a given year. In 2014, we are due to have three such supermoons. Casting Shadows at Marblehead Light

Marblehead from the Water

Nothing quite matches the view of Marblehead from the water - a fact I was reminded of during a boat tour around Children's Island put on by the YMCA. The Base of Marblehead Light

We enjoyed a perfect weekend in Marblehead these past few days with warm temperatures, occasional clouds and enough activities in town to keep everyone busy. Last Night at Chandler Hovey Park

For every vibrant sunrise and spectacular sunset that I share, there are an equal number of muted events such as last night at Chandler Hovey Park. I had noted the gathering clouds from my house at around 7pm and then saw the sun start shining through breaks in the clouds. Chandler Hovey Park and Children’s Island

An image from mid-February captured as I headed out in search of the full moon and ended up with a really nice winter sunset as a bonus. I had been shooting wide angle shots encompassing the nearly empty harbor with the few working boats moored in its protective waters when I saw this composition. Snow Moon rises over snow covered Marblehead Neck

I mentioned on Monday's post that I had gone out after work Friday (Valentine's Day) in hopes of capturing the February snow moon. Pink Sunset for Valentine’s Day

The February full moon (named the Snow Moon - how appropriate) was due to rise on Friday night coinciding with Valentine's Day.
