Turning the Corner at Brown’s Island

Last week, a good friend took me out on his boat. We started off at Salem Harbor and explored the outer shores of Marblehead and the Neck. By 7pm, we were approaching Brown's Island via Doliber Cove. As we headed in, Brown's Island rotated and the sky opened up and I was given this perfect scene of golden light with Marblehead Lighthouse seen in the distance. North Goosebury Island Under the Clouds

On Tuesday night, a good friend invited me out for a boat ride at 6pm. My wife and kids were still in Virginia (I had been down there revisiting DC the prior week) and so I jumped at the opportunity. Sunset from Fort Sewall Overlooking Marblehead Harbor

On the same evening that I captured an image over Gerry Island [LINK} and then the new composition of a tree at Fort Sewall [LINK], I was also treated to a remarkable sunset. Looking out over Gerry Island from Fort Sewall

On the same day that I captured a new (to me) composition of the road under a tree at Fort Sewall which I shared yesterday, I also snagged this image of Gerry Island at sunset. Morning in Little Harbor

Here is another image from my sunrise shoot on June 12th. After shooting the sunrise from Hammond Park and then up and down the Landing and causeway, I drove up towards little harbor. I ended up in front of Marblehead Lobster Company and found these boats parked in the waters of little harbor. With Gerry island in the immediate background and the lighthouse jutting out in the distance, the composition seemed to work really nicely. Hope you enjoy this serene image of morning in little harbor.

Full Double Rainbow over Marblehead

On Monday night, I shared the story and first image from my wild race to capture the incredible double rainbow that took shape at sunset over Marblehead. The Strawberry Supermoon Rises Over Tinker’s Island

This weekend's Strawberry Moon (aka Rose Moon, Flower Moon) was also designated as the Supermoon marking the closest that the moon would come to Earth in all of 2013. This particular supermoon would appear to be the largest full moon of the year owing to its proximity to Earth. With that in mind, I scouted out the moonrise and moonset beginning on Saturday night. Tinkers Island Under Storm Clouds

On May 24th, the grey clouds that had covered us for days finally parted and, as they left, a storm churned off the coast. I went out after work while the light was strong and stopped at a number of spots to capture the not too distant storm. This image came from a stop at a home along Ocean Avenue. A New Day Dawns Over Gerry Island

It still amazes me that Gerry island can appear so isolated at high tide and yet twice a day, as if by magic, a road appears linking us with this small island in Little Harbor. This image was taken on April 3rd after a sunrise shoot that took place at Hammond Park.
