Fort Sewall in the Snow

One of my all time favorite images and one that I took within 6 months of moving to Marblehead. I remember we had a significant storm come through on January 18, 2009 and I made my way up to Fort Sewall to explore. The snow was wet and the air still so the tree that stands in front of the red doors still held on to much of it. Little Harbor blanketed in snow

Here is another photo from the archive as we await the first real snow of the season. We had a fair amount of the fluffy stuff fall in 2009. This was taken in January shortly after we moved to town. I was still finding my way around and passed this scene on a drive home from old town. I stopped and grabbed my gear to capture little harbor and Brown's/Crowninshield island with wet snow clinging to the branches.

Lobster Trap Tree Lighting at Mud Puddle Toys

In keeping with this week's holiday lights theme, here is a photo taken in front of Mud Puddle Toys. On December, 2nd, shortly after the town's tree lighting, I made my way over to historic downtown Marblehead to witness the annual Lobster Trap Tree lighting at Mud Puddle Toys. I had missed this tradition my first two years in town and was happy to have made it down to experience this scene. From the Rooftops – Five Corners

The Island in the Harbor

On Friday, October 21st, I drove past this island which sits on the border between Salem and Marblehead in the harbor and noted that it had seemed to reach peak color for the Fall. Old Town House Draped in Falls Best

I had my eye on this tree for weeks and kept waiting for it to finally reveal its full color. It cooperated very well by doing so on the first Wednesday in November. I tried to set up for this shot but had a car parked directly in front that obstructed my view. Just as I was about to give up, the car took off and I managed to snap this image during a short break in traffic. Waterside Painted in Red

Fall is finally showing its true color in Marblehead and I have been fortunate to catch a few areas at their peak. On Saturday, I was driving down West Shore when I saw this brilliant tree in Waterside Cemetery. I quickly turned around and grabbed my camera for a few shots. Fall colors explode in Marblehead

On Tuesday, November 8th I found myself with a bit of time at 3pm with which to explore downtown. I drove down Pleasant street with a destination in mind when I saw this tree lit up by a late Fall sun. I quickly parked and set up to capture this beautiful tree at peak color perfectly framing the beautiful blue door of this house. Trees Rise from a Colorful Swamp

It took a while to happen but the leaves have finally started to show their Fall colors. I rode along the rail trail on October 18th and stopped at a small opening through which I noted this small swamp. The bare trunks rising from it contrasted nicely against the changing colors in the background. I waited for a break in the clouds to bring out the colors and captured this image. A Snow Family in Snowctober

Well, we had our second snow of the season - though, I don't know if you can call Fall part of the 'snow season'. Though other parts of the state ended up with at least 6 inches, we received a tolerable few.
